A Quiet Place’s synopsis seems very simple at first: a family must learn to survive in a post-apocalyptic world.
Survive what you may ask? Monsters that have ultra-sensitive hearing. In other words: don’t make a sound.
I will admit- my expectations for this movie were low, just because I didn’t truly see how the concept was going to draw you in and keep your interest for a feature-length film.
I admit now: I was so mistaken. This movie made “on the edge of your seat” chills even more intense. I, along with the rest of the audience, was afraid to eat my candy, sip my drink, or basically cough for fear of ruining the truly eerie atmosphere!
Does it answer all your questions as to how the world ended? No.Does it answer how the monsters came to be? No.
But this was one movie where I enjoyed not knowing- I was too caught up in this family’s journey and the performances on the screen!
*Quick note: John Krasinski- who is Emily Blunt’s husband in real life- starred in anddirected this movie! He did a great job and he even received a blessing from Stephen King, if I’m not mistaken!
My rating: 4 reels out of 5!
